The wide blade with a thick spine is crafted from 5160 high carbon steel that has been differentially-tempered to impart the blade with a hard edge that will not dull easily and a softer steel for the spine and mid-section of the blade to give the blade some flex to ensure that it is not brittle. The guard, pommel cap and knuckle guard are of steel. The thick, full tang of the blade has had two halves of carved rosewood riveted to the tang to form a large grip. The scabbard is made from pinewood that has been glued to form with ‘’Laha’’ glue. It was finished by overlaying it with tight black leather and finishing it with a integrated black leather belt loop. This large Bowie is quite the impactful fighting knife. The wide blade is well-capable of dealing woeful chops and hacks. The tip comes to an acute point for thrusting and the blade tip widens considerably just behind the tip - this makes a thrusting impact very wide with even only a few inches of penetration. The knuckle guard doubles as a knuckle-duster if necessary.
